Hi All,

I am planning on heading to Perhentian for the first time for some diving.
Will be with a group of 6-8, as such, we will be alright if the place is quiet as we can make our own noise!
Any recommendation for good dive operators and/or resorts?

Also, would perhentian or Redang be better?

Thanks for the advice folks!

Cheers

If you are interested to go Perhentian, i would suggest you stay & dive at Bubbles Resort & Dive Center.

Very very good accommodations, diving is great and people are friendly. Lemme know if you are interested, i can arrange bookings for you. smile.gif

I just came back from Perhentian. I dived with Pro Divers at Coral View Resort. Very good Divemasters. Will be posting a review soon.

Global warming is killing all the corals on the East Coast from Tioman all the way up to Thailand. The water temperature was 31-32C when I dived last week. A major coral bleaching event is happening right now. Some amazing coral colours can be seen as the zooxanthellae are expelled or leave the corals. After that the corals turn white and die. I saw white coloured anemone with blue tips. It was so sad to see huge white patches on once pristine coral reefs.

to be honest.. its not just the global warming.. for tioman yes.. but for redang and perhentian no.. the corals were bleaching even before the global warming started.. there were tests conducted on the 'sand' at the river bank of terengganu river.. and those poluted sendiments has reached redang.. killing the ecosystem.. and todate.. the sendiments has reached perhentian and slowly killing the corals..

the global warming just made a dire situation worse..

Hard Corals cannot survive at temperatures around 31-32C. That's the temperature in the water everyday that I dove in Perhentian and off Kuala Terengganu / Pulau Bidong. Whether its the pollution or the water temperature, the bottomline is the corals are dying or dead.

I just came back frm Perhentian.. phew... its hot & beautiful..
I would recommend you to try Steffen Dive Centre. There are located at Coral Bay, Perhentian Kecil. They are very friendly & all the gear are set up for you. My friend also took OWD with them & very happy with their lesson.

Have fun..
