Hydroids

"DURING a recent dive, my partner motioned for me to look at something he found. I squinted into the dark crack where he was pointing. What is that moving around back there? I wondered. Shrimp? I leaned closer. Yes. Here was a group of odd but charming shrimp, a species I hadn't seen before.

I leaned into the cave to get a better look, but my giant, bubbling face alarmed the little creatures. They moved toward the back of their shelter.

Determined to see them better, I adjusted my grip to push myself forward. Then . . . Ouch! A sharp pain on the underside of my right wrist made me jerk my arm up. I looked down. My hand had been resting near what looked like a lovely bouquet of white feathers. But the angelic appearance of these plumes didn't trick me. I knew I had just received my first hydroid sting."

Charles,

this stings will take a long long time to dry up. it will cause itchiness, skin will peels off when u scratch it. the whole thing will turn black eventually.

i got these on both my knees....after 3 months, still got the bumps there....the culprit are those small plant look alikes in either purple or yellow?

Guys, please understand that Jellyfish, Fire Coral, Hydroids and COT are all different and the toxins released upon contact or being stung are different and requires different forms of treatment to prevent further injury or at the very least, to minimise the discomfort caused by the injury.

I am no medical expert here and am not trying to claim so. This is purely and entirely my personal opinion.

I don't want to stay itchy for the infection area for 5 months like Aaron ah !!!! tongue.gif

Any medical advice from your side koolapek?

Anyway I'm gonna get the Atomic B2 but thinking of not getting the combo with the SS1, was though of getting a Unidive Octo since it seems looks so much alike with the B2 and I think it's a good match between them. How bout you koolapek? You're getting the combo set or seperately?

Regards,

Charles

Hi Chasrles,

May I suggest you get proper medical advice from doctors as I dont want to get a scolding if my advice turns out not right.

I have already spoken to Henry and confirmed that I will be buying the Atomic B2 combo as the offer is a "cannot lepas peluang" one biggrin.gif

Perhaps you should have a rethink about using the Atomic 1st stage with other "unmatched" Octo's. You might get away with it but if the pressure calibration is set to match the 1st stage, you will have endless nightmares and Henry will be very happy in charging you service charges for retuning your reg set after every dive. rolleyes.gif

Bro,

You mean the "mix and match" combination might cause problem to the 1st stage? Or with the calibration of the original B2 1st and 2nd Stage will cause problem to the Octo?

I'm just thinking of it might be "safer" for us to separate the inflater and the Octo, what do you think?

Regards,

Charles

Imagine driving a Beamer using Wira or Waja wheels. It will work but to what degree of satisfaction?? The SSI Octo, although attached to your BCD hose, is redundant thus causing no threat to you and you can still manually inflate your BCD like anyother inflators but with the convenience of one hose less and less chances of dragging it on the reef if you diving close to it. Ultimately, it is you who will be using it and it is your preference that counts.
